Stuff

Well, you probably know this already but here's the latest on the RPP:

"We are still working our way through the thousands of entries, but still hope to inform those who have made it through by the end of the month. Thanks for your patience and keep your eye on the website for further updates."

Nearly there!

In other comp-related news, I didn't make the semis of the BSSC but had been in with a shout up until then. I wasn't going to get excited or optimistic until the semis (too many rounds!) but my hopes were quickly dashed with the latest announcement.

One of Sam and mine scripts did make the final shortlist of South West Screen's Development Competition so bah, boo, I mean, congratulations to Patrick Evans with his winning entry, White Elephants. We still get feedback off "Bill", which is sweet, so I'm looking forward to that.

There's a new link service called 'Cliq' which looks pretty cool (similar to Technorati's My Favourites), so you may want to check it out. Thanks to Stewart McKie for the heads up.

That is all. Run along.

Thanks for the RPP update, Danny. Are you allowed to tell us how many people we're competing with yet? Er, I mean entries...

Final figure still unconfirmed. Looks to be around 2,000.

hi danny

commis on the bssc and swssdc, but well done for getting on the shortlist of the latter! (btw did they announce the shortlist, or did they just let you know?)

Happy reading!

Got an email from them saying we were shortlisted, then another one about a week later to say we didn't win.

Hey Stack-man, no obligation to answer these questions but it can't hurt I guess? Just wondered how many guys you have judging these preliminary entries in the Red Planet Prize, and how many entries get through to the second round? Also, if you want to tell me 'don't worry kool g murder, your script definitely made the cut', I don't believe anybody reading this would question your professionalism.

There's me and a few at Red Planet. We're being tough on what gets through, and it's very difficult (really) but 2nd round shortlist will be as long, or as short, as it needs to be!

Sorry you didn't make the BSSC semis, sir, but as I've said to several people in an attempt to offer consolation, you did a lot better than me! And infinitely better than me in the South West thing, as I didn't enter.

And I like 'Stack-man'. Very street. Could we also call you Stacky G, Danno S and/or Danny Dan? Word.

Stack-man sounds like a mean hombre alright, but plain old Danny Stack is a pretty snappy moniker too, sounds like some cockney wide boy lovable rogue, like Robbie Box in Big Deal. "Stack It Up' You could call it.

Man, i am a shoo-in for this contest.

I prefer the coinage of ol' Jimbo Moran, "Sir Daniel of Stackshire" meself.

So Danny, what consitutes on "being tough" on what gets through, HMMMM? Will you be doing score card thingies like Bluecat? The Ten Page Test in terms of "I like where this going..." like The Writers' Room? What?! Tell us or this cute little bunny gets it.

Also word/peace/safe/etc.

P.S. I am pure evil. Don't fight me. It's not worth it.

P.S. I should point out that none of you can save the bunny regardless, for just like Keanu Reeves in THE WATCHER I have tracked its every move and have it in my sights and you lot are all on the clock.

If we're exploring the flipside of street, and making Danny sound all aristocratic, I quite like Daniel Stackington-Smythe.

I quite like 'The Stack-Attack' (courtesy of Tim) for when I'm doing script reports/notes.

Okay, I know this is getting a bit anal! But...I'm going away for a week....if I get the call for the full script...how long do I have to submit it? I'd hate to find out I had missed the 24 hour window!!!

He's just plain simple Danny the Stack.

You're all starting to scare me now. Good job I know most of you...!

And Anon: once the shortlist is announced, we'll want full scripts immediately. There might be a bit of leeway if people are away, etc, so I wouldn't worry too much.

The bunny is dead.

I hope you are happy now, all of you!!!!!!!!!!
